Île de France
Departments of Paris, Seine-et-Marne, Essonne and Val-d'Oise
The Île-de-France region, so called as it is surrounded by rivers, is to be found in north central France. The capital city of France, Paris is located at its centre. Unsurprisingly, it is the wealthiest and most densely populated of all the French regions. The price of property here, with the cosmopolitan and chic city of Paris on your doorstep, is expensive. The departments around the central department of Paris itself offer plenty of peaceful countryside to explore with a number of stately chateaux such as Versailles, and charming towns and villages. The climate is similar to that of London. Mild winters and hot summers with rain one day in three on average.
