Burgundy, towards the north east of France is a region famed for not only its fabulous wines but for the richness of its cuisine. Chablis is its most famous wine and beef bourguignon one of its better known gastronomic delights. Historically, Burgundy was a place of tremendous wealth and power and one of the great European centres of art, learning and science. Now it is an agricultural department with many vineyards. Despite being a well linked region, the property here represents good value for money. The regional capital is Dijon, which is known for the mustard it produces. Many of the roofs here are tiled with colourful glazed tiles in intricate patterns. The climate is typical of inland France - warm summers and cold icy winters.
