Brittany (Bretagne)
Departments: the Cotes d'Armore, Finistère, Ille et Vilaine and Morbihan
Brittany is the most north western region of France, occupying a large peninsula between the English Channel to the north and the Bay of Biscay to the south. It has a distinctly different feel to the rest of France and even has its own language - Breton. Traditionally popular with the British due to ease of accessibility and its long rugged coastline, secret coves and sandy beaches, it is also a popular holiday destination for the French. The region's capital is Rennes. The climate is temperate, similar to that of Cornwall and Devon. With mild winters and warm summers, it has the four distinct seasons so cherished by the British.
