Converted three bedroom limestone barn in a quiet village near Bakewell and Buxton within commuting distance of Sheffield, Manchester and Derby
This detached three-bedroom home was converted about 16 years ago from a stone barn probably dating from the early 18th Century.
It is located in a conservation-status village between Bakewell and Buxton in the Peak National Park, and is in the catchment area of the highly-rated Lady Manners school in Bakewell. Macclesfield is 15 miles away, Chesterfield 20 miles, central Sheffield 25 miles, and central Derby, Manchester and Stoke-on Trent are all 30 miles, and easily commutable.
The house is built of limestone, with walls up to two feet thick, and a slate roof. It is well-maintained, has no significant structural defects, and is connected to the mains sewage system.
All windows are double-glazed, and all rooms except the utility room and kitchen are centrally heated. All internal woodwork, doors and skirtings are in pine or oak, in keeping with the character of the house.
The ground floor comprises:
